Our purpose is to serve and show compassion to those in need. We can’t help everyone,
but everyone can help someone
The Gnanam Foundation was established in December 2010 by Subaskaran Allirajah, the Chairman of Lycamobile, along with his wife Mrs.Prema Subaskaran, the Chairperson of Lycahealth, in the name of Mr Allirajah’s mother Gnanambikai Allirajah in order to provide help for marginalised communities around the world.
Our aim is to improve lives on an individual, family and community basis and we base our projects on the ‘teach a man to fish’ model, ensuring long-term stability rather than temporary improvements.
We aim to achieve this by giving communities the opportunity to have independence by providing them with shelter, medical care and safety and by developing their skills. In turn, this will help to improve their quality of life and their household income.
In addition to our focus on improving education, healthcare, livelihood and conditions, we also respond to emergency appeals as and when they arise. We currently operate in Sri Lanka, India, Sudan, Tanzania, Romania, Pakistan and the Philippines. The Lyca Group’s Gnanam Foundation has ambitious plans to grow globally in the coming years, giving help to wherever it is needed.
