Farmers from villages under the administration of North Vavuniya have been built 42 wells in order to meet the water requirements that they are in desperate need of.
The resettled farmers who engage in agricultural activities are struggling to find water for their plants and crops. They have tried various other ways to obtain water, but their efforts have been fruitless. Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation has built these wells in an attempt solve this problem.
These wells will be handed over to farmers and the public in an event in the north of Vavuniuya by the Divisional Secretary, the Assistant Divisional Secretary V. Ayakulan, Divisional Secretariat Accountant, representatives of Vavuniya North Division of the Arts Education Development Fund, Development Officers and Samurdhi Development Officers. Additionally, it will also be attended by the school’s principal and the general public.
The farmers will now be able to sustain their crops with this new supply of fresh water, ensuring that their livelihoods are supported.
