Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation, with the guidance of philanthropist Subaskaran Allirajah, continues its rehabilitation programmes in the north and east, changing the living conditions of many people who are affected by war and natural disasters.
Recent floods on the island demolished many houses in the north and east of Sri Lanka. The Thambanikulam Village community in the Madu DS division were displaced due to floods as many families lost their temporary shelters, so they were relocated to Poomalarthan Village temporarily. Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation distributed tin sheets for 285 families in Poomalrthan to build their temporary shelters at a distribution ceremony held on 21st May 2015 at Madu. The distribution ceremony was graced by Mannar District Secretary (Government Agent) Mr.M.Y.S.Desapriya, Madu Divisional Secretary Mr.F.C Sathayasoothy and many other government officials of Mannar district.
